Starting January 1, 2026, Minnesota Paid Leave offers payments and job protections for employees needing time off for serious health conditions, family care, military support, or safety concerns. Most Minnesota workers are eligible, including full-time, part-time, and most seasonal employees, if they’ve earned at least $3,900 in the past year. 

Key Details

  • Leave Types: Up to 12 weeks for Medical Leave, 12 weeks for Family Leave, or 20 weeks combined.
  • Protections: Job restoration (after 90 days of hire), continued employer-funded health insurance, and no retaliation.
  • Funding: Premiums are 0.88% (standard employers) or 0.66% (small employers) of wages up to $176,000. Up to 0.44% may be deducted from your wages.
